Sprouts of Hope
I have sent the treatment to a number of contacts and friends in the industry (including a potential producing-partner) and, so far, the reaction has been entirely positive! In an industry overrun with horror films, there seems to be a desire among industry professionals to work on something truly inspirational -- something with redeeming value to it -- that they can be proud to be involved with. The producer even said his eyes welled up with tears as he was reading it! If a brief synopsis of this story can be that powerful, imagine how powerful the finished film will be!
When Jones was trying to start his school, he ran into many roadblocks and hurdles, but he was sustained by the occasional sprouts of hope that he received that reaffirmed his calling. This hope usually came from the smallest sign of support or approval from the people around him, whether it was John Webster loaning him a typewriter during lunch breaks or a small donation of 35 cents from someone who probably couldn't afford to donate at all.
As a writer, I work alone... but when I receive positive feedback like this from other people, it reaffirms my calling. It gives me a sprout of hope that my work is not in vain.
